What would otherwise involve a great deal of effort when done manually can be significantly simplified thanks to a digital solution. LapID is a pioneer in this field. In a nutshell: What does LapID do?
As the inventors of automated driver’s license verification, we have made it our mission to digitize business processes and replace manual ones. This allows company managers to focus on other important matters. At the same time, they can meet their legal obligations arising from vehicle owner liability, accident prevention regulations, or the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
What solutions and services does LapID offer its customers?
LapID offers three services that can be combined. These include automated driver’s license verification, e-learning courses, and digital appointment and document management for UVV inspections.
With automated driver’s license verification, our customers can choose from three verification methods. These can also be easily combined and cover every driver’s license in the fleet. With the LapID Driver app, for example, drivers can verify their driver’s license directly on their smartphone. For EU card-style driver’s licenses from Germany and Austria, we use an AI-powered process that verifies the license’s security features. Paper driver’s licenses or foreign driver’s licenses can be verified in the app using our NFC seal. The seal can also be verified at one of our 1,200 publicly accessible inspection stations. The third option is the LapID Manager app, which assists with on-site visual inspections.
In addition, we offer a variety of e-learning courses in the areas of occupational safety, fleet management, and compliance. The standardized modules can also be supplemented with your own content.
With our digital appointment and document management system for UVV inspections, we help fleet managers streamline the organization of vehicle-related appointments. Inspection reports can be easily uploaded by the driver via smartphone and are stored in the digital vehicle file in a legally compliant manner.

How does LapID’s driver’s license verification work?
Once the customer has been set up in the LapID system and the first drivers have been added, the driver’s license check can be activated. Before the check, the driver receives a notification (either via email, text message, or push notification). The driver can then initiate the check using the specified method. Once the check is successfully completed, it is documented in the LapID system. This gives fleet managers a real-time overview of the current status of driver’s license checks across the fleet. A new appointment for the next driver’s license check is automatically scheduled, based on the selected interval at which the check is to take place.
If a driver has not completed their driver’s license check, our escalation process is triggered. Up to three different recipients can be designated here to be notified of the missed driver’s license check.
Of course, appointment and reminder management, as well as legally compliant documentation, are also integral parts of the training and management of UVV vehicle inspections.
How do the LapID driver’s license verification tool and the Carano Fleet+ fleet management software complement each other?
The complexity of the tools fleet managers must use is constantly increasing. This also increases the administrative burden associated with managing various applications and leads to greater effort in fleet management. The interface between Carano’s Carano Fleet+ fleet management software and LapID enables seamless synchronization of the systems. As a result, data no longer needs to be entered twice but can be maintained centrally in a single system.
